Can’t decide where to go? Try a cruise and “sample” a few new islands or cities!
Why I fell in Love with Cruising~
I fell in love with cruising when my Sister-in law surprised my husband and I with a cruise to the Caribbean. I had been on a cruise way back in the day around 1983 and I really didn’t remember too much about it. So in 2005 when we got the call about the cruise I was so excited. I started researching and figuring out all the fun things we could do while on the cruise. From the moment I stepped foot on that big, beautiful ship I knew that I was hooked. Since then I have been on 7 cruises and have my 8th one planned for the end of 2011.
Cruising can be just about anything you want it to be, from a romantic getaway for two to a huge family reunion. You can do as much or as little as you want, lay out by the pool, take a wine tasting class, eat, play bingo, rock wall climbing, water slides, golf, basketball, comedy shows, casinos, dancing, massages the list goes on. Then there is the decision on where to go. I love helping my customers figure out the perfect cruise for them. My favorite is the blue-green waters of the Caribbean and plan on visiting all the Islands cruise by cruise!

Waiting for Vacation
Tonight I am getting things cleaned and in order, the suitcases have come down, the travel documents are all printed and I keep checking things off my list. Three more days and I am on vacation! it is taking so long to get here, I am running out of time!
I love this part of going on vacation…the anticipation. I am going on a week cruise to the Mexican Rivera with my traveling partner my Mom. We have decided to try out a mega ship so we are going on the Carnival Splendor. Us two with 3000 other people, are we crazy? Yes. But it is my quest to try all the cruise lines so I can be an effective Travel Agent who specializes in cruises.
I love to cruise. I love the energy of being on a ship, the service, the activities, the people watching (my favorite). Though I do think “are they watching me and making up stuff about me about who they think I am?” Hope it is something fun.
Cruising gives you the opportunity to visit several places in a short period of time. It gives you the chance to be pampered. Ahhh being pampered right up there with the people watching. It gives you the opportunity to just have fun!
So as I continue to mark items off my list I get closer to putting on the orange life jacket, crammed in a room with a few hundred people with a big smile on my face.
Reminds me of cruising…
Even though this song is about giving up sailing it always reminds me of going on a cruise….

Beyond the Sea Bobby Darin
Somewhere beyond the sea
Somewhere waitin’ for me
My lover stands on golden sands
And watches the ships that go sailin’.
Somewhere beyond the sea
She’s there watchin’ for me
If I could fly like birds on high
Then straight to her arms I’d go sailin’.
It’s far beyond the stars
It’s near beyond the moon
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon.
We’ll meet beyond the shore
We’ll kiss just as before
Happy we’ll be beyond the sea
And never again I’ll go sailin’.
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
We’ll meet … I know we’ll meet …
beyond the shore
We’ll kiss just as before.
Happy we’ll be beyond the sea
And never again I’ll go sailin’.
No more sailin’ … So long sailin’ …
Bye, bye sailin’…
Move on out, captain …
So long, ensign …
Princess Commodore Level Acheived
Learning is so important if you expect to do things right. I have dedicated this year to learning as much as I can about cruising. I want to learn about all the cruise lines and where they go, I want to know what the ships look like, how the crews treat their guests, who has the best food, best itinerary’s, the list goes on.
If I had the time and money I would be on a different cruise every month. I am still trying to convince my Dad to hire me as a personal travel companion for my Mom since he doesn’t like to cruise. He hasn’t offered me the job…..yet.
So if I can’t cruise every month then it is going to be lot of online classes, ship inspections and maybe 2-3 cruises this year. I have completed the Royal Caribbean WOW program and Commodore level with Princess Academy! My next one will be NCL University. I also spend countless hours reading travel magazines (both hard copy and e-mail), I scour brochures and read my cruise books. It is amazing how much there is to learn.
